Gardens of Remembrance – Tome 3
{ From the introduction of Tome 3 }
“If you make a trilogy, the whole point is to get to that third chapter, and the third chapter is what justifies what’s come before.” – Peter Jackson
Volume 3 seamlessly continues the narrative from where part 2 left off, completing the ‘Gardens of Remembrance’ trilogy. Consistent with its predecessors, I’ve included the same four chapters: ‘Sepia shades‘, ‘In the shadows’, ‘Transitional’, and ‘Vividus’ – aiming to capture the essence of these abandoned spaces through my lens… ensuring the indispensable embrace of the ‘dark aesthetic’.
Echoing its forerunner, this volume showcases the captivating beauty of cemeteries across Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Germany, and introduces noteworthy burial sites from the United Kingdom. Enriching the narrative are scattered insights labeled ‘The language of burial monuments’, shedding light on specific iconography and unraveling the historical symbolism they carry. Pages 7 through 9 offer an index (in descending order) of all those snippets featured in the trilogy for easy lookup for those who own the complete series.
I hope this passionate endeavour ignites creativity, serves as a valuable inspiration or becomes a sanctuary for brief escapes into aesthetic dreams... of the dark kind.
The final tome is currently under development
